Top Three Smoothies

I will always be an advocate of ‘eating’ fruit & veg as appose to ‘drinking’ it.  But if you’re struggling to get in your ‘7-a-day’ smoothies as part of a healthy diet can help you on your way.  

Strawberry Surprise Smoothie (serves 1 – 2)

350g melon any type

225g strawberries

1tsp vanilla essence

36g Ice-cubes

Place the melon, strawberries and vanilla extract in the blender and blend until smooth.  Pour into a glass over ice.  This smoothie is a great source of fibre and vitamin C.  To add protein just add 125g pot of natural yoghurt and to add carbohydrates add 20g of porridge oats and blend together.  Enjoy! (100ml provides 29kcal, 0.2g fat, 4.6g sugar and 2.4g fibre)

 

Greensleeves (serves 1 – 2)

125g pot natural yoghurt

100g milk

100g or 1 medium banana

50g spinach

1tbsp honey

Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.  Pour into a glass and serve chilled.  This smoothie is a great source of protein, calcium, folic acid, Vitamin K and fibre. Enjoy!  (100ml provides 72kcal, 0.8g fat, 12g sugar and 0.5g fibre)

 

Beetroot Booster (serves 1 – 2)

175g or 2 small carrots

152g or 1 medium apple

50g or 1 ball of beetroot

2.5g or ½tsp grated ginger

200ml water

Just blitz all the ingredients together and pour into a glass.  Great source of Vitamin A and fibre.  Serve chilled and enjoy! (100ml provides 51kcal, 0.4g fat, 8.9g sugar and 2.6g fibre)
