Dress up those leaves with my delicious salad dressings
It’s all about the tasty dressings that you add to give the salads a bit of a lift! Here’s my top dressings for you to try yourselves –
Honey & Mustard:
2tbsp low fat natural yoghurt
Zest and juice of ½ lemon
½ tsp runny honey
½ tsp djon mustard
Put all the ingredients in a lidded jar and shake vigorously
Per serving: 38kcal, 0.6g fat, 2.1g protein, 0.2g salt
Chilli and Orange dressing:
Juice ½ orange
¼ tsp smoked paprika
½ tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
Pinch dried chilli flakes
Put all the ingredients in a lidded jar and shake vigorously
Per serving: 58kcal, 5.7g fat, 0.4g protein, 0.1g salt
Spicy Asian Sauce:
1tsp fish sauce
1tbsp lime or lemon juice
1/4 tsp brown sugar
½ tsp finely grated fresh ginger
½ tbsp. toasted sesame oil
Combine all the ingredients in a lidded jar with 1tbsp hot water from the kettle. Shake
Per serving: 58kcal, 5.5g fat, 0.2g protein, 1.1g salt
Herby guacamole sauce:
¼ ripe avocado flesh
1tbsp fresh parsley
1tbsp fresh basil or mint
Juice ½ lemon
Blend everything together with 3tbsp cold water using a blender. Season with black pepper
Per serving: 72kcal, 7.1g fat, 0.9g protein, 0g salt
Tomato Dressing:
6 cherry tomatoes, finely chopped
1tbsp red wine vinegar
Pinch sugar
½ tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
½ small garlic clove, crushed
Whiz all the ingredients together to your preferred texture using a blender. If necessary, add a little hot water from the kettle to thin.
Per serving: 78kcal, 6g fat, 1.2g protein, 0g salt
Balsamic dressing:
2tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1tbsp balsamic vinegar
½ clove garlic. Crushed
½ tsp runny honey
¼ tsp wholegrain mustard
Put all the ingredients in a lidded jar and shake vigorously
